Epilogue: (4) Wedding Night

The night was naturally colored brightly—the moonlight outside the French-style windows sneakily infiltrated the house and sprinkled sparkling, translucent shadows on the floor of the wedding room.

The lights in the room had all been turned off, leaving only one colored candle to illuminate. In the warm and hazy candlelight, the newlywed was hiding beneath the new blanket with their fingers tapping rapidly on the keyboard.

(3) A Dead Loss

Regarding the question of who was to be the first to go, the two still took a traditional approach and that was with a game of—rock, paper, scissors.

Facts have proven that when it came to aspects involving this game, Gu Hai was truly no match for Bai Luo Yin. While others relied on luck, Bai Luo Yin was an expert in utilizing psychological tactics. He essentially needed only to quickly glance at Gu Hai in order to know with certainty what he would choose.

Immediately after the wedding banquet was ended, it was time to ‘intrude in on the bridal chamber’.1

Zhou Ling Yun, Gu Yang, Yang Meng, You Qi, Liu Chong, Tong Zhe, and Yan Ya Jing… all trailed closely behind Gu Hai and Bai Luo Yin to their new home that was their little nest from back then. Since it had already been renovated, they wanted to spend a marvelous night there.

At seven in the evening, all the invited guests started to enter the venue one after another. This was a pillarless crystal banquet hall that was close to 2,000 square meters with over a dozen meters in height; it could accommodate more than a thousand people. Apart from the two massive groups comprised of the bridesmaids and groomsmen—along with the grooms’ respective friends and relatives— there were also some uninvited public figures of society who had most likely engaged in business collaborations with Gu Hai at one point or another, and some representatives from different charity organizations that had received donations of lights a few days ago. With that as a pretext, they came in order to express their gratitude and blessings.

The moment Bai Luo Yin and his guards of honor arrived at the entrance, Yan Ya Jing spoke to the group of beautiful women behind her. “Everyone, make sure to not let their hypocritical appearances mislead you; think about how they tortured us yesterday. Ladies, the time for revenge is here! Bring out the demeanor that us women from this new era possess. We must get back all the losses we suffered yesterday, plus interest!!”

The group of soldiers that were once clamoring and shouting that they would not open the door for Gu Hai no matter what, were now all eager to get outside upon seeing the beautiful women. As for Bai Luo Yin, who initially wanted to leave, he unexpectedly changed his mind and waved his hands before settling in the center of the room. Then, he looked calmly at the person guarding the entrance way and said: “Block the door and don’t let him in!!”

Difficulties for Groom Gu

Along the way, Yan Ya Jing’s bicycle constantly swerved all over the place, causing her to nearly collide into Tong Zhe’s several times. Fortunately, there was enough distance between the front and the back of the bicycles, otherwise, a rear to rear pile up just like a dominoes effect would have occurred. Since she was little, this young lady had never touched a bicycle; having always had a chauffeur taken her to and from school until she grew old enough to drive herself. As a result of such an upbringing, it was inevitable that she learned how to ride a bicycle on the spot, with the person she almost crashed repeatedly appointed as her teacher.

A luxurious fleet to escort the bride

Just after he had finished inspecting the layout of the wedding venue, Bai Luo Yin received a call from the army.

“Bai Tuzhang, your application to live out of the military base has already been examined and approved. If there are no special missions for you to handle, then have the option of returning home once your tasks are completed. However, if there are any unsettled housing situations, you can also return to live on base. We have already arranged a nice living space for you and your spouse, as he is allowed to stay here with you.”

Being able to hear such news made Bai Luo Yin’s mood burst with excitement, and his tone of voice was somewhat politer than in normal times.

“I’m sorry to have troubled you all.”

On the way back, Bai Luo Yin turned to Gu Hai, “Does your dad know that the two of us are getting married?”

“I told him already.” Gu Hai’s complexion sank immediately, “If he wants to attend, he will, and if he doesn’t, then forget it. In any case, he has already promised that he will no longer interfere with my business. I really don’t have any expectations of him whatsoever. As long as he doesn’t cause any problem during our wedding, that would be more than enough.”

Gu Hai took two sets of clothes out of the bag and handed one over to Aunt Zou, the other to Bai Han Qi. He then said in a clear voice, “These are the clothes that we had specially made for you. You can wear them to attend the wedding ceremony. Why don’t you try them on and see if it fits?”A cheerful expression settled on Aunt Zou’s face, “Aiya! It’s still the kids who know how to take care of us ah! I was just worried about not having any clothes to wear when the day came!”
